Everyone needs someone. Horses are such fascinating creatures. Their movement, grace, and incredible agility for their size has caught the attention and admiration of humankind for millennia. Every shape, size, color, and personality shows how likely it is that there may be an equine “kindred spirit” out there, if we take the time to look for and discover them. Want to go fast? There’s a horse for that. Want graceful, purposeful movement? There’s a horse for that. Want a pet to play and goof around with? There’s a horse for that. The fact that each individual horse of each breed is so different from the next makes them intriguing, even relatable, creatures. I’ve seen diva mares who won’t get their hooves wet. I’ve seen laid-back draft geldings who almost seem to laugh at everything. I’ve seen little fiery ponies who seem to own the place the moment their hooves touch the pasture or arena. I’ve seen impatient stallions who are begging to be put to work and given a chance to prove themselves. We need YOU, who YOU are, YOUR strengths, YOUR knowledge, YOUR encouragement, YOUR passion. The world will never be the same without YOU." In the wild, herds are usually a conglomerate of various personalities, but of the same breed. It’s in domestic pastures, purposefully designed environments, that you get to see a whole new dynamic. In any herd, you have a lead stallion and lead mare, one guiding from ahead, the other guarding from behind, and most of the time size rules all. But when you put together different breeds, suddenly that fiery little pony is above the laid-back draft and the diva mare shows you just how rugged she can be when competing with other show horses within her community. Our lives are more similar than you’d think. When we don’t control our surroundings and community, we fall automatically into the pecking order, most of the time never moving up or down, content with mediocrity. It’s when we purposefully decide who to surround ourselves with and where we want to be within that group that we start to shine. Sometimes you don’t want to lead AND THAT’S TOTALLY FINE. We need your unique strengths no matter where you fall within the herd, Lead Stallion or newborn filly or anywhere in-between. That’s why I started this community. A lone horse, domestic or wild, doesn’t fare well. It has no purpose without a herd to lead or support or protect it. People are the same way (yes, including you Introverts). We need others to brighten our days, remind us to be gentle with ourselves, push us to get out of our comfort zones, and tweak our lives just so to get the perfect result. So spit out that bit, take off your saddle, and join your herd. We’re here for you when the days get rough, when training kicks you in the hindquarters, even if you just need someone to celebrate with you. This is a place of self-discovery. Test the innate gifts, talents, skills, and passion built within you for a unique and irreplaceable reason. No one can do it for you, but we can be here to lift and encourage you on your journey." Honor who you are, show us your strengths and let us pick up any weaknesses. Relax. This is a safe place of learning, and growing. Together, we’ve got this.
